The Mediterranean Island of Megisti (more commonly referred to as Kastellorizo) is a Greek Island that lies just 2km off the coast of Turkey near the town of Kas. It is the smallest and most easterly of the Dodecanese Islands situated roughly halfway between the well known island of Rhodes and the major Turkish Port of Antalya.
The island as known as Meis in Turkish and every year a race is organised as part of the Kas Lycia Culture and Art Festival, with swimmers starting in Kastellorizo harbour and crossing the Strait to finish at Kas harbour. The race distance is 7.1km in total and this challenge replicates that route.
